About Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Ultrasound

An Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) is a widening or weakening of the main blood vessel (the aorta) that supplies blood from the heart to the lower body. AAA often develops silently, with no symptoms, but if left undetected it can become serious.

An AAA Ultrasound Scan is a quick, safe and highly accurate way to assess the size and condition of the abdominal aorta — without radiation or invasive tests.

At Minara Ultrasound, all scans are performed by an experienced Specialist Sonographer, providing expert assessment, clear explanations, and a same-day medical report for reassurance or onward care.

What the AAA Ultrasound Includes

Preparation

To ensure optimal image quality, we recommend fasting for 4–6 hours prior to your scan (water is allowed). Please continue taking your usual medications unless advised otherwise.

What to Expect

The scan is painless and usually takes 10–15 minutes. The sonographer will gently scan your abdomen, measure the aorta in real time, and explain the findings during your appointment. A same-day medical report will be provided.
